Amy McClain, Director of Training at Calibrate has over 20 years of experience in training workforces and has contributed significantly to developing a comprehensive training structure at Calibrate. She built and now manages the Training and Instructional Design teams while monitoring the effectiveness of their various training programs.

Calibrate is a metabolic health company with a mission to change the way the world treats weight. They have sustainable weight loss programs guided by doctors, coaches, and specialists. The entire operational setup of Calibrate is remote and the employee base consists of 450-500 employees from across the USA.

Onboarding new employees

Calibrate has a 2-week-long onboarding process. However, before implementing Auzmor Learn, they had to onboard employees using word documents and SOPs which was an inefficient and time-consuming process. Auzmor Learn helped them streamline their entire onboarding process. They now have role-specific onboarding training that can easily be assigned to the new hires.

Ease of use

Amy has experience working with several LMS providers and her primary concern was the ease of use. The traditional, more hyped, LMSs she used often required technical support from the IT team which was again a time-consuming process and proved to be inefficient. Auzmor Learn is an extremely intuitive and easy-to-use LMS; so much so that post-implementation, Amy was able to author a course without any instructions or introduction to the features. Auzmor enabled her to create and deploy courses quickly.

Scalability

Calibrate is a startup that is rapidly scaling and so are its training needs. With multiple teams and about 500 employees, there was a strict need for a comprehensive and scalable training solution. Auzmor Learn has a plethora of features that support scaling organizations and helped Amy not only develop an effective learning setup but also aided in reducing the time taken in performing minuscule tasks.

Structuring the entire training process

Calibrate had no formal training structure before Amy joined the organization. They were training employees using word documents and SOPs, tracking progress manually via spreadsheets, and did not have proper training materials. The focus of the training was entirely on the professional development of the employees in their specific job roles. When Amy developed an efficient training structure, she ensured the usage of proper training materials and implemented Auzmor Learn to facilitate all their training requirements.

Amy introduced role-specific training at Calibrate wherein they have a defined set of training materials for each job role Auzmor Learn gave the training team at Calibrate a platform to perform all their training tasks with ease. The course authoring tools helped them develop relevant training materials, the Events feature helped them in facilitating in-person training along with online training, and helped with progress tracking for all of their learners.

“Auzmor has been a great help in training our coaches faster. We now have a platform full of resources that people can go back to and look at if needed. It has also empowered managers as when their team is struggling, they can simply assign some training as a refresher and that has helped a lot.”

What do you do to keep engagement consistent within the platform?

“We look at a lot of engagement metrics and do regular check-ins with our learners in form of surveys or questionnaires. We also look forward to using the ‘Forums’ feature more actively in the coming year and would love to have our learners engage on the courses and training materials.”

What are two pieces of advice you’d give to new LMS buyers?

“For the implementation phase, it is critical to first understand how you want the system to be set up. Determine who needs to be given what kind of access and what the structure will primarily look like. Looking for a flexible solution is always recommended. As with Auzmor, we had just purchased it for the coaching department but over time everyone wanted their own thing and we had the flexibility to build branches within the LMS.” “As for usage, you must understand the full potential of the LMS and how you can harness it. The main administrators, other administrators, and managers need to ensure they are making the most of the platform. It is vital to set up clear expectations for people that are responsible for different learners in the LMS.”
